The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a 10-day motorcycle rally held annually in the Black Hills region of South Dakota. It consists of coordinated motorcycle rides, competitions, and live music performances among many other events. Since its inception in 1938, the Sturgis Rally has grown to become one of the biggest motorcycle events in the country, regularly attracting an average of 500,000 attendees. Of course, before you attend such a big event, you’ll want to get your bike prepared. That is why Boise Indian® Triumph® has created this guide to getting ready for the Sturgis Rally.

Find a Place to Stay

One of the first things you should do is find a place to stay. Accommodations are sure to fill up quickly with 500,000 people set to attend. While not everyone will likely stay for the entire 10-day-long event, it’s still best for you to reserve your space early. Luckily, there are numerous lodging options nearby, including hotels, rental homes, and campgrounds/RV parks. Choose whichever one works best for you, and don’t be afraid to do a little digging to find a place to stay.

Attend a Few Concerts

One of the biggest draws when it comes to Sturgis is the music. You can catch multiple concerts playing at local venues, with some really famous names thrown into the mix. If you have trouble getting into the major events playing the big names, or that kind of experience isn’t your thing, there are also several smaller stages holding their own concerts.

Check Out the Ride Maps

There is a good reason why Sturgis is held in the Black Hills region. The area has some of the most breathtaking natural scenery you’ll find anywhere. Between meeting other bikers and attending amazing concerts, be sure to take the opportunity to enjoy a scenic ride near iconic locations such as Mt. Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, and Bear Butte.
